The Raja Ampat Islands are a group of islands located in the western part of the Bird’s Head Peninsula (Vogelkoop) on the island of Papua. Administratively, this group falls under the Raja Ampat Regency and Sorong City, Southwest Papua Province. This archipelago is now a destination for divers attracted by the beauty of its underwater scenery. The four island groups that make up the group are named after their four largest islands: Waigeo Island, Misool Island, Salawati Island, and Batanta Island. The waters of the Raja Ampat Islands have a distribution of 574 species of coral reefs and 553 types of reef fish (bullseye) and are known as the richest marine area with the highest biodiversity in the world.[2]
